Love Is the New Black Printable

Love is the new black.  Everybody’s wearing it.  Are you?  If nothing else, it’s the one thing you should have in your closet.  Let it be the first thing you grab in the morning.  Before you put on those gorgeous pairs of Jimmy Choos, put on love.  As you delicately apply your makeup in the mirror, remember to apply love.  Wear it as a top or bottom- carry it around as an accessory.  Never leave the house without it.  Never throw it away, as it works for every season.  You can never damage it, and you can never outgrow it.  Don’t be stingy with love.  Let others borrow it and give some away to the less fortunate.  Always love.  Love often and love hard.  It’s all that matters in this life.  I Corinthians 13.

I’m wearing mine.  Are you wearing yours?

DIY Party Backdrop using Paper Plates

This is probably the easiest photo backdrop you will ever make!  Grab a handful of party plates for your Valentine’s day party, and create this simple, ombre backdrop in less than 5 minutes!

Supplies:

  • 9 Inch paper plates
  • Scotch tape (or any wall-safe tape)
  • Level (optional)

Step 1:

Starting at the bottom, begin taping the plates to the wall.  Use a small piece of tape at the back to secure.  Overlap the plates side-by-side to create a seamless look.

Step 2:

Continue taping the plates to the wall, filling gaps in between each one.  Use a level if necessary to ensure that each row is level and straight.

Grab your party props and start taking a few pictures!  This colorful backdrop is sure to welcome your guests at your next Valentine’s Day party.  Share this post if you like it!

Love Is Action Banner

It’s the season of love – and what better way to show you love some through your positive actions and good vibes.  The older I get, the more I realize that we’re all connected in some way and every action we take can affect someone else’s daily life.  We must remember that love is indeed an action verb – we’re meant to go do something with our love for someone else.  Remember that as you celebrate the month of love this year!

Now here’s the easiest banner you’ll every make.  With just a few supplies, you can make a sweet photo backdrop at your Valentine’s Day party.

Supplies:

  • Foil cardstock paper (or any cardstock color of your choice)
  • Fiskars circle cutter
  • Hot glue and gun
  • Sticky letters
  • Twine
  • Embroidery needle
  • Tack

Step 1:

Use the Friskers circle cutter to make 12 circles, 11 centimeters in diameter.  You can play around with those measurements to choose the right circle size you prefer.  If using foil paper, a tip is to cut on the foil side of the paper and not the white (back) side.  This way you’ll have clean edges when the circles are removed.

Step 2:

Adhere each letter in the center of each circle.  You can reinforce the adhesion with hot glue.

Step 3:

Use a thumb tack to poke two small holes at the top of the circle and using the embroidery needle, thread the twine through the holes.  If you don’t have a needle, try poking the thread through the holes with a safety pin, toothpick, or tip of a bamboo skewer.  Leave enough twine at the ends of the banner to tape it to the wall.

Step 4:

Tape it to the wall and add any other embellishments to make you photo backdrop pop.  Add a few mini balloons to make it more festive and for extra color.  Dress your best and take a few snapshots!

Ribbon-wrapped Gift Boxes

Before you wrap that Valentine’s Day gift for your loved one, consider this colorful ribbon-wrapping with floral accents.  Small, elegant touches with ribbon can give life and color to any ordinary gift box.  Try using thin ribbon as I did here to create a minor, yet eye-catching present for that special person.  This is a very simple craft, that makes a beautiful statement.

Supplies:

  • Gift boxes
  • Thin ribbon
  • Tape
  • Silk flowers
  • Hot glue and gun

Step 1:

Tape one end of the ribbon to the underside of the box, and bring it up and over to the other side of the box, making sure the ribbon is tight.  Secure the other end at the bottom with tape.

Step 2:

Repeat step 1, adding as many color and as many strips of ribbon as you like, making sure the ribbon is not loose and secured with tape at the bottom.

Step 3:

Remove the bloom from the stem on your silk flower.  Glue the flower to the top of the box.

These pretty flower boxes are great for bridal showers or weddings- the recipient will love how unique and personalized they are.  Be sure to tag us in your Instagram photos to let us know that you tried this lovely DIY!
