DIY Adult Easter Baskets | Easter and Spring Crafts

DIY adult easter baskets

Easter’s coming soon! I have to admit- I do get a little jealous of the kiddos who have a ton of yummy candy in their ginormous Easter baskets.  But hey, why not make your own adult Easter baskets?  Just like any gift box, fill it with simple treats and goodies to give to your girlfriends to wish them a happy holiday.  No need to go crazy expensive here if you don’t want to, just be sure to treat them with anything that will make them smile.  I like to use smaller baskets, so I don’t get carried away with buying gifts; the great thing is that they come in all fun shapes, sizes and styles.

For this DIY, you’ll need:

  • Gift Baskets
  • Party stuffing/fluff
  • Small gifts for women
  • Ribbon
  • Tags
  • Flowers

Step 1:

Stuff your basket to the top with party box filler.  I like the pastel pink colors for filler because it contrasts with the straw-colored basket.  I like to fill these all the way to the top, so that the gifts sit upright, and out of the basket.

Step 2:

Begin filling your basket.  I chose small gifts- a notebook, pencil, jewelry tray, fun clothespins, a pocket mirror, and a small candle just to name a few.  These simple gift items were very inexpensive and are small enough to fit inside.  My girlfriends can also use these items in their every day life- at the office, on the go and I was sure to add a bit of chocolate to keep it extra sweet.  Sit the items upright and try to place the larger items at the back of the basket and the smaller items at the front.

Step 3:

Once you have all your gift items set, add the flowers.  I bunched together a small bouquet of silk flowers and added them to the back of the basket.

Step 4:

Add a gift tag and any other final embellishments on the handle.

Step 5:

If you choose, cover the basket with clear cellophane wrapping.  I like to keep the basket open- since the basket is so small.

The fun part about this Easter basket craft is making the basket colorful and unique for the person receiving it.  You can even add some color to the basket itself with paint or glitter.  Ribbons are great embellishments and I’ve even added a few craft keys to give it more flair.  There’s never too much.  Make it fun and personalize it for your loved ones!

How to Make Easter Bunny Treat Bags

DIY Easter bunny treat bags

Easter’s around the corner- and I know you’re all starting to collect all kinds of sweet treats for the kids.  Here’s a fun Easter craft that you can use to put all of your candy and small gifts in and it takes a very short time to make.  These cute bunny treat bags can be a great alternative to making a full basket of goodies and is also a great giveaway at the end of an Easter party.  Let’s start crafting!

For this DIY, you’ll need:

  • Mini brown paper treat bags
  • Cardstock
  • Ribbon
  • Permanent markers
  • Scissors
  • Pencil

Step 1:

First, draw the bunny ears at the top.  This is fairly simple and it doesn’t have to be perfect.  Just draw two slightly curved lines, down from the top corners of the bag and then a horizontal line in the middle to meet the two .

Step 2:

Draw your bunny face at the bottom.  Starting below the line that creases at the bottom of the bag, draw a bunny face.  I drew the face with a pencil first, and then traced it with a permanent marker.  Just in case I made a mistake, I could erase and draw it again.  There are so many different expressions you can draw- smiles, frowns, laughs, eyes open or closed, squinting- any face that you want!  This step is great for kids to get involved.  Be sure to draw the eyes, whiskers, a nose and mouth.

Step 3:

Cut along the lines created at the top to make the bunny ears.

Step 4:

Open the bag and unfold or flatten out the ears to give them their shape.

Step 5:

This is where I recommend inserting your sweet treats.  I also would suggest to put them in a smaller plastic bag or treat bag first, and then put them inside the brown bag to keep them secure.

Here’s the tricky part.  In order to get the ears to close together, pinch each ear separately first.  I found that this made the bag more malleable.  Then pinch both ears together as best as you can.  If the bag is a bit stiff, you’ll have to work with it a bit to get the ears to come together.  You don’t have to close them together tightly; but just enough so that they are touching.

Close it together with a twisty tie.  This is optional, but I found it very helpful to keep the ears together before putting the ribbon on.

Step 6:

Cut two ear inserts.  I didn’t use a template for this, because it’s very simple to do.  I just eyeballed it and drew two leaf-shapes on cardstock and cut them out.  Again, these don’t have to be perfectly shaped.  Tape or glue them to the insides of the bunny ears on the bag.  Taping them was much simpler and faster.

Step 7:

Tie a ribbon around the ears and remove the twisty tie if you choose.  And that’s it!

Give these treat bags to all the kids who come to your Easter party and they are sure to love it!

How to Make Paper Tassels

Hey lovelies!  Ready to make some paper tassels?  I love these things.  I can put therm on any gift box to give it a little bit more flair.  They’re super easy to make and we’ve got a template for you to help speed things along if you need them quickly.  Check out the tutorial!

For this DIY, you’ll need:

  • Cardstock
  • Paper Tassel Template (optional)
  • Paper cutting board
  • Scissors
  • Tape or craft glue
  • Ruler
  • Pencil

Paper tassel suppliesI’m going to show you how to create the template from scratch; but if you’re running low on time, feel free to download the template here.

Step 1:

Draw a horizontal line, lengthwise, in the center of the paper.

Step 2:

From the edge of the paper and 1/2 inch in, draw a vertical line down.  Repeat this step on the opposite end as well.

Step 3:

Look down at your paper, and make sure it’s laying horizontally.  Erase the small line that starts at the edge and meets the vertical line you just drew.

Step 4:

Now cut along all your lines.  You should now have 2 sections.  Each section will become one tassel.

Step 5:

Take one of those sections and begin cutting slits that are about 1/8″ wide, vertically up from the bottom.  I eyeballed this, but you can draw guidelines before cutting if you want it precise.  I’ve drawn a guideline to mark how high up I wanted to cut.  Just be sure not to cut too far up.  Leave about 1/2″ from the top.  Cut the slits all the way down to the end of the paper.  Repeat this with the other cardstock cutout.

Step 6:

Gently fold down the thin, top piece and tape it securely.  But be sure not to crease it.  You want it to be more of “loop” than a “fold.”

Step 7:

Starting from the end with the folded flap, begin rolling it around itself to form the tassel.  Be sure to roll it tightly and tape it securely at the end.  If you don’t like the length of the tassel, cut as much off as you want from the bottom.

And that’s it!  Style these tassels on a gift box for a friend or create fun garland with them for party decorations.

Be sure to share this post if you like it!
