Firework “Rocket” Photobooth Prop

Hey crafters!  For Independence Day, create these kid-friendly “rockets” for your photo booth!  We made this paper garland backdrop and found we really needed some props to go with it.  So we made these super quick paper rockets with only a few supplies:

  • Scrapbook paper
  • Toilet paper rolls
  • Jute twine/rope
  • Wooden dowels
  • Tape
  • Hot glue

Roll and tape a piece of scrapbook paper around your toilet paper roll.  Make sure you cover the entire roll.  Then cut a circle, about 8″ in diameter to create the top of the rocket.  Create a cone shape with this circle and attach it to the top of the toilet paper roll with hot glue or tape.  Tie the twine around it, and hot glue the wooden dowel to the inside of the roll.
This simple craft will add some extra fun to your 4th of July party.  It’s great for kids because it’s an easy craft, that doesn’t take much time at all.  I would only suggest skipping the hot glue element, and instead only using the tape if smaller children are making these paper rockets.  But that’s it!  Check out some of our photos below, posing with these fun rockets and also check out how to create this vintage, carnival style backdrop for your party!
