Colorful, Sideways French Mani for Summer

Hey there beauty enthusiasts!  Last night I was spending so much time trying to figure out how to polish my nails for the upcoming week.  Next week will be pretty uneventful- it’s only that we’re well in to summer and I didn’t want to go without colorful, vibrant nails.  I went from just doing a plain, single-colored nail design to an ombre affect, but those weren’t working out too well.  Time was winding down, so I just decided to keep it simple by doing a basic french manicure look.  To make it a bit more edgy, I applied it sideways, for almost a “peek-a-boo” affect.  It’s simple, modern and perfect for summer.
For color inspiration, I began rummaging through Geneane’s things!  She has this adorable Kate Spade iPhone case, with pink and peach stripes.  I love the subtle blend of those two colors together, which I chose in this nail design.  I am using the Maybelline Color Show polish in Pinkalicious 170, and NYX Girls polish in Coralina 249.
You can create this look using tape as you would with a regular french manicure; or if you have a steady hand, start by applying the pink color on the outer part of the nail, and then add the peach color to the rest of the nail.  Make sure you slightly overlap the peach color on the pink to create a clean line.  I found that doing it this way was much faster than applying the color, waiting for it to dry, taping it off and then applying the second color.  But you really need a steady hand to create a clean, straight line.
These colors are so vibrant and summery that I’ll most likely end up polishing my nails this way much more often.  Next time I may use even more neon colors.  I really like the Maybelline Color Show polish; unfortunately I had to apply multiple coats (like 5) of the NYX polish  just to get it ultra smooth and vibrant.  It’s sad because I really do like the color and it was pretty inexpensive, but I want my polish to last long.  Brushing multiple times to saturate the color wastes a lot of polish.  A good equivalent would probably be Essie Serial Shopper or Tart Deco.
This morning I decided to do a simple makeup look.  A beautiful, summer glow requires a flawless face, simple eyes, good contouring, but a lot of bronzer and highlight.  Get dewy skin by using a liquid foundation, topping it with your favorite setting powder, contour powder, blush and highlight.
Smudged, winged liner and nude liner on the water line softens the eyes.
Thanks for checking out this post guys.  I hope you liked it.  Don’t be surprised if you see me wearing my nails like this again!
